Description
You may find this alien looking specimen a bit bizarre, but in some regions of the world it is quite recognizable and even eaten as a delicacy. It is a sea mollusk called Kamenote (Capitulum mitella.) Many say It looks like a turtle hand which has sharp, hard shells on the tips and rough skin. The name kame-no-te, literally translates to “turtle foot.”
This ocean barnacle lives in the Indo-Pacific region, along the shoreline where the water is very rough. This small ocean specimen in resin will be perfectly preserved for years to come. It makes for a wonderful educational piece, or simply a bizarre little specimen to add to your collection of curiosities.
As will all aquatic specimens in resin, size shape and coloration can vary. Measures approx. 1 1/2 inches square by 1/2 inch thick. Your purchase will come boxed with a cute little organza bag, ready to give as a gift if you choose.
Nice addition to husband’s collection. Thanks!!
