Giant Stag Beetle in Resin, Wings Open, Prosopocoilus forficula austerus

This stag beetle (Prosopocoilus forficula austerus) is recognized by it’s large pincers and glossy dark red-ish body. It is a widely distributed species, living in Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, India, Japan, and China. It can be found in tropical rainforests and temperate forests from the lowland to mountains.

This beetle is viewable from all sides, through the crystal clear lucite, with it’s wings meticulously spread open it makings  an excellent teaching teaching aid or the perfect addition to any entomology collection. As with all real beetles in resin, size, coloration and positioning can vary slightly. Resin block measures approximately 3 inches square and 3/4 inch thick.
