The longhorn beetles (Anoplophora chinensis), sometimes called longicorns, are a large family of beetles, with over 35,000 different species. The scientific name of this beetle family dates back to Greek mythology: after an argument with nymphs, the shepherd Cerambus was transformed into a large beetle with horns. Most of the species are characterized by their extremely long antennae, which are usually as long as or longer than the beetle’s body.
As with all real beetles in resin, size, coloration and positioning can vary slightly. Lucite block measures approx. 3 inches square by 3/4 of an inch thick.
Beetle was just as pictured. Beautifully preserved specimens in resin.
