Description
This type of Blister Beetle (Mylabris phalerata) belongs to the Meloidae family and is sometimes known as the Chinese Blister Beetle or the Banded Blister Beetle. They are called this because of their defensive secretion of a blistering agent. They are sometimes used in traditional Chinese medicine and can be found widely distributed in India and southern China.
The clear resin makes this perfect specimen is viewable from all side. It’s is an excellent addition to any entomology collection or to be used as a scientific teaching aid.
As with all real beetles in resin, size, coloration and positioning can vary slightly. Lucite block measures approx. 1 3/4 inches tall by 1 1/8 inches wide.
