The Rose Chafer (Cetonia aurata) or sometimes called the Green Rose Chafer, is a beetle about 3/4 of an inch long. It has a hard metallic green shell and a distinct V-shaped scutellum (the small area between the upper wings.) These beetles are fast flyers that feed on pollen and nectar.
On warm sunny days, they can be found among rose bushes. Their main habitat is southern and central Europe, where they sometimes can be very localized. They can also be found in South East Asia, in the countryside and outlying islands of Hong Kong.
This beetle in resin, shimmers and shines in the right lighting, the dark greens and blues are quite impressive. This is the perfect piece for starting your beetle collection.
As with all real beetles in resin, size, coloration and positioning can vary slightly. Lucite block measures approx. 2 3/4 inches tall by 1 1/2 inches wide.
This thing was a lot bigger than I expected. It is a beautiful shimmering green once you get it in bright light. Very accurate to the one pictured in listing, and definitely worth the buy!
No air bubbles in the acrylic! Outstanding. I highly recommend this company for any naturalist collector. I am very pleased and will return for more in the future. K
