This real spider in resin is Cyclocosmia ricketti. It is a species of trapdoor spider of the genus Cyclocosmia. It is native to China and has various common names, such as Money Living-Door Spider, Severed Abdomen Spider, and the Chinese Hourglass Spider.

Cyclocosmia ricketti has a very distinctive flat disk, or plate, on its abdomen which some people claim looks like an ancient coin or a seal of some type. Since this Trap Door Spider is not very good at spinning silk, it lives in burrows in the ground which it closes off with it’s abdomen
